What is where on the screen

The screen has four parts: a column of icons on the left, a panel beside it, the document in the middle and the AI agent on the right. It is enough to know which is which.

The whole screen. From the left: the column of icons, the Documents panel, the page with the cards of its changes, the conversation with the AI agent, and the narrow column with your account.

The column on the left: what you want to see

The icons choose what the panel beside them shows. Clicking the same icon again hides the panel and gives the document more room.

In the appWhat it means
DocumentsThe folders and documents of the project. This is where you open, create, rename and delete.
ChangesEverything that has changed in the draft — and the buttons for approval and publishing. The number on the icon says how many documents are changed.
SearchFinds a word in all documents at once.
WIP filesFiles you uploaded as background for the work (Word, PDF). The agent reads them too.
HistoryHow the draft changed over time, version by version.

In the middle: the document

At the top are the tabs of the open documents — as in a browser. Under them is the document bar, the part you will use most:

The document bar. The name of the draft on the left, the writing buttons in the middle, Saved, Markup and the history clock on the right.
  • The name of the draft (on the left, with a coloured dot) says which working copy you are in. In the approved version it reads main with a lock. Clicking it switches — see Your first draft.
  • The writing buttons — bold, headings, lists, a table… see Writing.
  • Saved — you never save; it saves itself. This word confirms it.
  • Markup — turns the coloured marking of changes and their cards beside the page on and off.
  • The clock (File history) — earlier versions of this document.

The three dots ⋮ on the tab, before the document’s name, open the File actions menu: export to Word, print, rename and more.

On the right: the AI agent and your account

The wide column on the right is the conversation with the AI agent. When you do not need it, hide it with the dash in its header (Hide the conversation); the circle with initials in the bottom right corner brings it back.

The narrow column in the top right corner is yours:

In the appWhat it means
Zen modeA switch that hides everything but the page. For concentrated reading and writing.
Account (the circle with initials)Language, appearance, password, help and signing out.
Notifications (the bell)What happened while you were not looking: the agent finished, somebody asks you to approve.
Project detail (the cog)The overview and settings of the project.
Command palette (⌘)A quick way to find a document or an action by name.
The Account menu. Language, appearance and password are changed here — and there is a Help and glossary inside the application too.

On a phone and a tablet

On a smaller screen the panels do not disappear, they wait: the list of documents slides over the page when you tap its icon, and the conversation with the agent opens as a window. Reading, accepting changes and approving work the same.

A document on a phone.
